Security is as important to us as it is to you, so we’ve created this document to help answer all security related concerns about the 42Kites system. If your concern is not addressed here, please visit our Support Center and submit a question.
Non-Sensitive Information
It is important to first understand the type of information you will be entering into the 42Kites website. All content stored on 42Kites is non-sensitive information. For example, when you create an Experience, it may include photos, text, and videos of your exhibits. This type of information is content intended for sharing with your guests. You will not be storing any information on your local device, so there is no security risk of downloading a malicious piece of software.
Payment Information
Purchases made on the 42Kites website are processed entirely by Stripe.com, a leading payment processor used by companies like Google, Amazon, Instacart, and Shopify. Stripe handles hundreds of billions of dollars in payments each year. When you make a purchase on 42Kites, your credit card details are entered on Stripe’s website, not ours. We do not see, process, or store your credit card information. Learn more about Stripe’s security.
Search Engines
Your 42Kites Experiences are not indexed by Google or any other search engine, meaning only people who physically scan or tap your SmartLink Cards will see the information. Others can only view your Experience if the URL is directly shared. If shared, only the content from that Experience can be seen (see Non-Sensitive Information point above). The 42Kites system is designed to provide a hassle-free and accessible way for users to access exhibit content. To facilitate this, no app or software is required for guests, which means we cannot prevent users from copying and sharing URLs.
Apps
42Kites does not have an app. As the manager of a 42Kites account, you do not need an app to add or edit your Experience content, and your guests do not need an app to view it. To maximize accessibility, everything is browser-based, ensuring it works seamlessly everywhere.
AI
Artificial intelligence (AI) is not installed on the 42Kites website or server. There is no AI functionality available for you or your guests to use or interact with.
Account Access
By default, your 42Kites account is secured with a username and password, which is the standard method of account access for most websites. We do not use a SSO (Single Sign-On) so there is zero chance of your other accounts being compromised. If you would like additional account security, we offer a feature called Enhanced Security, which uses a time-based one-time password (TOTP) through an authentication app, such as Google Authenticator or Authy. These are third-party authentication apps not affiliated with 42Kites.
